About Joel
Joel Peisley has established himself as one of the most sought-after talents in the dance
industry today. Having trained in Sydney & in Los Angeles at the famed Edge Performing Arts
Center, he was named 1996 NSW Jazz Champion & in 2001 received Retter’s Scholarship
(USA).
Joel’s choreography & performance credits span the commercial dance gamut - television,
music video, award shows, commercials & concert tours.
Live events include Austereo’s Rumba tour, Sydney 2000 Olympics launch, So You Think You Can Dance Australia National Tour, Walt Disney’s
World On Ice world premiere, 25th Annual Carols In The Domain, Sydney Millennium New Years Eve
Concert, Foxtel 10th Birthday Bash, Sydney Christmas Parade, fashion label launches & corporate events for BMW,
American Express, Myer, Canon, AMP, Uncle Toby’s, Hewlett-Packard, Optus, Commonwealth Games & 20th
Century Fox.
TV credits includes Video Hits 1000th Episode, Midday Show, Saturday Disney, The Today
Show, Cheez TV, Sports Tonight, Channel V, My Favourite Film, Good Morning Australia, The
Big Arvo, Sunrise, The Footy Show, Mornings With Kerri-Anne & various music videos &
commercials.
Major sporting events include 2002 & 2004 NBL Grand Finals, NRL Grand Final, Harlem Globe
Trotters tour, Bledisloe Cup, Superdome Slam Dunk Double (all-time NBL record crowd), AND 1 Mix Tape Arena Tour &
NFL American Bowl.
Joel has entertained heads of state & royalty, & has performed alongside a diverse array of
artists including Christine Anu, INXS, Rhonda Burchmore, Chris Isaak, Human Nature, Jane Scali, DJ Nino
Brown, Jimmy Barnes, Paulini, Peter Cousens, Shauna Jensen, Nathan Foley, Screaming Jets, Danielle
Gaha, Margaret Urlich & Michael Cormick. Joel was also choreographer / artistic director for
Rebekah K’s ‘Everything I Do’ promo tour (Top 5 single).
Joel’s dance career has received notable press coverage including a full-page interview in the
Sunday Telegraph (Australia’s largest selling publication), a double page artist profile spread
in TALENT magazine, a feature story in Sunday Life magazine & a live-to-air TV interview
with Kerri-Anne. Joel is also a columnist for Australia’s premier dance publication DANCEtrain,
entertainment reporter for POP Republic, & he hosted a weekly music review segment on
MTV.
Joel has judged dance comps & taught conventions & master classes nationally, for
companies including McDonald College, Ballet Australasia, Australian Teachers Of Dancing,
Gold Coast Combined Dance Teachers Association & the Showbiz Career Expo at Acer Arena.
Joel was a finals judge for GROOVE Urban Dance Battle, & he has served on the voting
academy for both the American Choreography Awards & the BET Awards – two of the most
prestigious events on the US industry calendar.
