SYTYCD
So You Think You Can Dance was launched in Australia with a national dance-off tour. The 2 month long trek saw thousands of dancers competing for cash & prizes. Network Ten were along for the ride, with winners from every state being flown to Sydney for the grand final, hosted by Natalie Bassingthwaighte. Joel was a member of the professional cast who performed the various dance styles that the TV series would feature. Joel also choreographed these showcase performances.
AND 1 MixTape Arena Tour
The AND 1 MixTape Arena Tour ripped through Australia, boasting 'the greatest display of creativity ever to hit the hardwood' from the hottest stars of US street basketball. Joel choreographed & performed in the dance interludes featured throughout the game, to the soundtrack of a live DJ. The routines included interaction with the US players & subsequently gained great coverage in the Sunday papers.
Showbiz Career Expo
The 2007 Showbiz Career Expo took place recently at Sydney’s Acer Arena. The 3 day event served as a resource for both current & aspiring entertainers, with Interactive Seminars from the industry's top professionals. Joel was a guest instructor for the Dance Audition Seminar from OP Productions.
BET Awards
Joel was invited to serve on the voting academy for the 2007 BET Awards. The A-list ceremony took place at Los Angeles’ historic Shrine Auditorium & honoured the best in urban entertainment. Beyoncé, Ne-Yo, Mary J Blige, Jennifer Hudson & Diana Ross were amongst the evening’s winners, & Joel was honoured to serve on the academy of this prestigious event.
NBL
Joel recently choreographed & performed in the 2006 / 07 NBL season opener. The Edge 96.1 half time show featured DJ Nino Brown (Best DJ - Urban Music Awards) mixing live on the turntables, surrounded by 100 dancers. Joel also shot a new series of network promos for Fox Sports which are currently screening. The 06 / 07 season marks Joel's 9th year with the National Basketball League.
Music Video
Joel can be seen on TV screens in Suzy Ray’s hit music video, ‘Disco In My Car’ (through Central Station Records). The video was shot at Fox Studios featuring a cast of Sydney's hottest dance talent. The clip is currently in rotation on Channel V, MTV & Rage.
Footy Show
Continuing his NRL commitments, Joel choreographed a number for the black tie edition of 'The Footy Show'. The episode was a big ratings winner for the Nine Network, & featured Jake Wall, Tiffani Wood, & the sexiest men of league.
Columnist
Check out Australia’s premier dance publication, DANCEtrain magazine. Joel is a columnist for the mag, for whom he interviews the biggest international talents. Recent issues have featured his chats with the cast & crew of Hollywood hits ‘Dreamgirls’, ‘Rize’, ‘Hairspray’, ‘Rent’ & ‘Step Up’.
Hip Hop
Joel was invited to serve as judge for the finals of 'GROOVE Urban Dance Battle'.
Heats across Australia & New Zealand saw over 150 hip hop dance crews & 1,000 breakdancers & krumpers battle for a place in the grand final. Joel was also interviewed by MX newspaper regarding his judging role.
Judging
The 2006 Australian Teachers Of Dancing Scholarship saw Joel leading a series of Jazz & Tap masterclasses, during which aspiring dancers were assessed. Joel also served as judge for the association's NSW State Scholarships stage showcase.

NRL
Joel recently completed his work on the 2006 NRL season. He choreographed over 20 half time shows performed at Telstra Stadium throughout the season, along with TV performances, commercials & corporate events.
Masterclass
Together with ‘Tap Dog’ Darren Disney, Joel recently led an encore of BAL’s ‘Hip Hop Funk & Tap’ workshop. This was Joel’s 3rd series of masterclasses for the company during 2005.
